Convatec’s GentleCath hydrophilic male catheters are coated with a hydrophilic polymer that reacts with water to become super-smooth and slippery to fully lubricate the catheter for insertion into the body. No additional lubricant is needed with the GentleCath Hydrophilic Catheters because the coating is bonded directly to the catheter so the water-activated lubricant will not slough off as the catheter enters your urethra. This hydrophilic coating helps maintain a smooth, friction-free catheterization experience from insertion to withdrawal. Compared to uncoated catheters, GentleCath hydrophilic catheters have been shown to help reduce the risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs). The kit includes everything needed for self-catheterization: a urine collection bag, an antiseptic pad, one pair of latex-free gloves, an underpad, and the hydrophilic catheter with sterile water sachet for activation of hydrophilic lubricant coating.
